Hello, I’m offering this beautiful Realistic 8-Track Deck, it features a real wood veneer case, not fake “wood” vinyl and is compact in size measuring aprox 10” long x 7” wide x 4” tall. The condition of this player is amazing for its age and I invite you to review all the pictures using your zoom.
I’ve been restoring and repairing vintage stereo components since 1974, long before they were considered vintage. With this deck I disassembled and cleaned all electronics with professional contact cleaner, demagnetized the head, capspin and tape path as well as replaced the belt with new, I will include the original belt as proof of replacement. All tracks change as the head moves through the sequence of 1-2-3-4, please see photos of above mentioned.
This is being sold for parts or repair for the reason it just doesn’t sound as good as it should, depending upon the cartridge being played it will sound great, and others not so great. There is some crosstalk between programs where you can hear another song playing, but decided not to adjust the head because I have tapes this is not noticeable.
With that said if you’ve been in the 8-track hobby you’ll know all common issues, but I cannot and will not say this is working perfect it is not. It does feature a working eject button a nice feature not all players had. Also this model has automatic play, meaning you can select it to play one track then eject, play all 4 tracks then eject and finally continuous play for non-stop music.
I’ve been unable to resolve the issues I mentioned above, but considering how nice this is feel it could be used for parts should you have a good working unit in need of a nicer wood case, faceplate, the new belt I installed or misc parts that can be combined with yours to make one very nice player.
Again, please understand this is being sold with the understanding of all I mentioned in my honest description. The 8-track tape shown is part of my childhood collection and is not included.
