INTRODUCTION
This hardcover One Picture Book #25 , River Series / Shadow by Naoya Hatakeyama, is offered in AS NEW condition and was obtained directly from the Publisher upon release. This Limited-Edition book has been Signed and Numbered by the Artist and is from an Edition of 500 copies distributed worldwide.
Typically, each One Picture Book contains 16 pages with 11 four-color or duotone plates. Generally, there is a C-type original print tipped-in on the final page, but can be placed anywhere in the One Picture Book, which measures 5 x 5 inches (or smaller) and is typically signed by the Artist on verso, or on the Colophon page. There is no dust jacket, as issued. All One Picture Books sold by Top Choice Books have been purchased directly from the Publisher upon release, or shortly thereafter. Any wear & tear associated with this One Picture Book, or the Ziploc bag it is housed in, is as received from the Publisher. The book has been stored in a clean-air environment, with temperature and humidity controlled since acquisition.
River Series / Shadow is a hardcover volume measuring 7 ¼ x 5 ½ inches (18.5 x 14.5 cm), without dust jacket, as issued, and packaged in a Ziploc bag, as issued. There are 16 pages with 9 four-color plates, with 1 original Type C-print , which measures 4 ¾ x 2 ¼ inches (12.07 x 5.72 cm) and is signed on verso by the Artist in black ink. This One Picture Book is numbered on the Colophon page at the rear of the book.

The 9 images reproduced in Naoya Hatakeyama’s One Picture Book River Series / Shadow are born from his “River Series” project of 1993–94. “Shadow” refers not only to the reflections on the water surface of these images but also to Talbot’s On the Art of Fixing a Shadow . Naoya Hatakeyama was born in Japan in 1958. His work is widely exhibited internationally and is included in such important public and private collections as Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Victoria and Albert Museum, London; and The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
