W.W. JACOBS 8 VOLUMES Methuen & Co, London WC Eight Volumes of W.W. Jacobs published by Methuen - a timeless and wonderful collection of books including short stories, many lightly humourous and others a bit spooky ghost stories! These editions, published by Methuen have lovely decorative red boards with gilt writing on the spine and pictorial spines and front covers - there are no dust jackets.  The books date from 1902 through to 1910 - the editions vary - see details below.   Included in this collection are:

• Short Cruises - 2nd Edition, August 1910 - With 38 Illustrations by Will Owen - 298 pages - Foxing ‘spots’ to page block - a good sound book
• Many Cargoes - Thirty-First Edition, May 1909 - Not Illustrated - 247 pages - Slight marking to front cover board - a good sound book
• A Master of Craft - Ninth Edition - November 1909 - 12 illustrations by Will Owen - 340 pages - Brown spotting to page block and intermittently throughout the book
• Sea Urchins - Eighth Edition - 1902 - Not Illustrated - 243 pages - Binding cracked but holding together. Cover boards worn and a bit grubby, bumping to board corners and head and tail of spine, previous owner’s name on front end paper, bookseller’s stamp to inside front cover
• Dialstone Lane - 1906 - Illustrated - 326 pages - brown spotting to first few pages - good sound, clean book
• At Sunwich Port - Ninth Edition - September 1909 - 16 Illustrations - 291 pages - some brown spotting, especially on text pages facing plates, foxing to page block, otherwise good sound book
• Light Freights - Eighth Edition - November 1909 - 12 Illustrations by Will Owen - 295 pages - Brown spotting to page block and intermittently throughout the book - good sound book
• Sailors’ Knots - 1st Edition, 1909 - With 12 Illustrations by Will Owen - 302 pages - Ex-library (WH Smith & Sons) with library label on inside front cover, front hinge gapping, cover boards worn and bumped with a crease near corner, wear to the cloth of the spine, picture on boards faded - evidence of much reading and handling wear

Condition:   Generally the condition is excellent for books that are over 100 years old. The gilt on the spine is still bright, the pages are flat and tightly bound. All pictorial plates are present. The bottom edge of all the books is 'ragged cut’, ie not trimmed. The paper is slightly browned due to age - foxing / brown spotting occurs on the page block and in some volumes as described, there is some marking to the cover boards, and bumping to the corners of the cover boards and evidence of light reading wear.  Sailors’ Knots  is the volume in the worst condition, being ex-library.  One volume has previous owner’s name on FEP. The books pictured are the ones you will receive.
