Open to International Bidders!! This No Reserve auction, is for a vintage 1922 Ludwig & Ludwig model # 1 "All-Around" snare drum.
This drum has a shell that measures 5” deep x 14" wide, and is made out of solid brass. The Ludwig & Ludwig family name is proudly stamped into the nickel plated top hoop. There are no trademarks or engraving of any kind on the shell itself. The all-brass, nickel-plated shell is a really heavy, two-piece model, with rolled over and soldered internal support rings. The shell is in nearly flawless condition, with only a few minor scratches visible.
This drum first shows up in the 1922 Ludwig & Ludwig drum catalog and pre-dates the "Pioneer" and "Universal" model snare drums. The Ludwig drum company did not offer a eight or ten lug metal shell snare drum in this catalog.
This drum is factory equipped with six "tube" lugs, a patent-pending "Pioneer" strainer and butt plate, two solid steel flat hoops, and twelve tension rods & hooks. All of these parts are beautifully nickel plated but both steel hoops are showing extensive rust damage and flaking.
When I received this drum, both of it's original skin heads were ruined. I have installed two replacement drum heads but the original cat gut snare cords are still intact and are in superb condition.
Shipping and Handling to Domestic U.S.A. adresses will cost $25.00 for this item. International bidders will need to supply me with a proper mailing adress for a more accurate shipping rate quote.
